My handmade Mei Tai Carrier

I wanted a new mei tei that would be in boy colors. I had one with DD but it was way too girly for a boy. I looked all over to try and find one that wasn't too expensive but couldn't, so I decided to make my own and I LOVE how it turned out. Cost me $20 in fabric and supplies. So here it is, one pic of it laying out and the other of DH putting it in action with DD on a rear carry. Took a full evening but it was sooo worth it. It even has padded straps and a padded headrest for extra support .

Gorgeous fabric! Make sure to box stitch it where the straps meet the body!

Oh I did, twice over for each strap. I also used thick upholstery thread as well to make absolutely sure those suckers didn't break.

Thanks ladies!

Yay fabulous! I'm jealous of your skills, I wish I could make my own mei tai!

It was actually easier than I thought to be honest. Just had to make sure I made accurate cuts and stuff and I just followed a tutorial online. I will say though that the stripes in the fabric helped me to keep things straight both when cutting and stitching so that my straps wound up nice and even. The tutorial I followed was on a blog called grumbles and grunts.
