How did you find someone to encapsulate placenta?

If this is in the wrong place, move it please!

I'm hoping to do placenta encapsulation this time around. I had ppd with our first that started at around 8 weeks pp and went on and off until baby was 9 months old. I'm having a hospital birth b/c Dh begged me to. I've been looking online but not finding much for our area. How did you find someone to do yours?? We live in the Harrisburg PA area if that helps.

Reach out to some of the doulas or HB MWs or birth centers near Harrisburg to ask for a referral. My MW is doing mine. I think a lot of doulas are also getting into this too...

I did my own and I'm also a professional in it. Most people find me by web search or by local Midwives. I'm in a private online community for professionals if you'd like me to help you find one, just need to know where in PA you're located.

Thanks ladies. I looked online and found doulas in Harrisburg. I'm not sure if they do it or not. I'll probably call when I'm further along in pregnancy and see if they do. There doesn't seem like there is too many around here any closer than 1-2 hours otherwise.

Ditto reaching out to your local doulas, our doula group actually holds classes teaching how to encapsulate your own if you'd rather handle it yourself instead of sending it home with them.

Thanks. I'm still researching this...I don't want to contact anyone until I get a little further along in pregnancy. Hubby doesn't want me to do it...it grosses him out a bit. I am still searching online when I have a chance though. It doesn't have much on local doulas.

Other than online, is there anyway to know if there is any in the area? Anyone know??

Re: How did you find someone to encapsulate placenta?

My dh is encapsulating mine for me. But he is an herbalist and we already have almost all of the supplies needed. The only thing we don't have is the dehydrator but he needs to get one to use for other things anyway.

I asked on our local AP group in Facebook. I also asked on here. I asked too late though and didn't end up getting it done.

I'd check with doulas in your area. If you're open to doing it yourself, it's super easy. Even easier is making it into a tincture.
