Non-vax mamas on the east coast

I heard that some have issues with the religious exemptions on the east coast. Our DD will be starting K this year and we will be moving. I'm wondering if we should cross off the east completely.

Ive dealt with religious exemptions in PA and NY. The schools tried to tell me we "had to" vaccinate but You just.have to be firm and point out that you know the laws and then they back off.

We had no issues with our exemption waivers when we were on the East coast.

I have a friend in West Virginia who is dealing with this. They absolutely will not allow children in schools or daycare unless they're up to date with vacs and also it's a misdemeanor not to vax and you can have dss called on you for it.

Just make sure the state you are moving to has a religious exemption. It varies on a state to state basis what exemptions they have

It looks like West Virginia only accepts medical exemptions. Not a state where I want to bring my DD. How is your friend doing?

Pennsylvania gives you no problems. I just had to state my ground about the religious exemption.

She only has a 2 yr old and a newborn at this point, but she can't get a job because she can't send her kids to daycare. She also drives about an hour to a pedi that is accepting of her beliefs. She hates WV(there are other effed up things too I just don't remember) but her DH doesn't care and refuses to move. I think she's planning on homeschooling and just trying to not get caught.
I'm in MA and so far haven't given my 3 month old any vaccs yet. The nurse at his last appointment said "I don't blame you" and then the pedi gave me a bunch of ****. Looks like I'll be switching pedis. I'll also be homeschooling, so I don't have to worry about that but when my 3 yr old was in daycare(I blindly vaxed him up to a yr ago) the daycare told me to just write a note claiming religious beliefs. That was in CT though, idk about MA but it's a very liberal state so I don't see any issues here either.
