Re: How many books per day?
I have a seven year old and an 18 month old. The seven year old is a confident reader now so she usually reads to me. We try to do every night but it doesn't always happen with activities/homework. She reads a lot on her own before bed.
I read at a minimum 15 minutes per day to my 18 month old between nap and bedtime. Depending on what were doing each day we'll read throughout the day as well. He would sit and listen to me read endlessly. I usually love this but sometimes I have a strong desire to hide all the books! ![]() Advertisement |

Re: How many books per day?
We read for 3-4 hours a day, if not more, when dd was a toddler/preschooler.
Reading was her favorite at home activity--actually her favorite anywhere activity (she'd ask random strangers at the library/bookstore to read). I am a stay-at-home mom with one child, so I just made the time. Her vocabulary has always been amazing and she now loves to read independently.

When DD1 was our only child, we would read for several hours a day. After DD2 came along, I didn't have that much time, but we still read for at least an hour a day. Now DD3 is here, and I don't have time for anything right now (though she is only two weeks old, so it will get better). Today we managed to read two stories that were about 15 minutes each. We usually read 4 books before bed and sometimes more plus books throughout the day.

Re: How many books per day?
My DS is three and we always read 2 to 6 books at bedtime. We usually read throughout the day, but since it is getting warmer out will equal less reading! If the books have trucks, cars, tractors, flip outs ans such more reading will get done! But my son likes to take notes his books or my books and pretend he is reading. All gibber gabber even though he speaks pretty clearly when he is pretending o read he is all gabba boo da do a day or something!!
