Bringing your own Newborn Sposies to the hospital

We are planning #2 at the birth center, but we ended up in the hospital with #1 due to thick meconium so being prepared.

I read someones birth story recently and they mentioned bring seventh generation sposies to the hospital and giving one to the dr for the first diaper and what not.

I hope to cloth diaper from diaper one, but I understand that it could be hard if it's anything less than a birth center birth without immediate concerns. Even if we can't get it in for diaper one, we could change into it soon after.. though I guess we should be able to change into cloth soon after too.

What do you think about this idea?

What brand would you buy? I only used some nature babycare with #1 and back then at least they didn't make newborn. Other more natural brands I am aware of: Earths Best, 7th Gen, Honest, Grovia....

I don't know about every hospital, but ours you can bring whatever you want. If you don't want their shirts, they put your own on, I brought my own diapers since my hospital uses Pampers, and with the dry max issues, I didn't want those on my baby, so I brought my own 7th Generation. They didn't have any issues at all with it.

I would think that as long as you have plenty of diapers, that even if they were measuring the "in's and out's" on the baby, you could get away with anything. They just need to know the weight of the diaper before it goes on the baby.

Both my kids were in cloth from the first diaper with zero issues, and both were unplanned c-sections. We just told the staff what we preferred and made sure we had diapers available, and no one questioned it.

Earth's Best are one of my preferred brands of disposables.

We took Earth's Best in with us. The nurses had no problem putting one of our diapers on him when they were done with his bath.

There's no reason you can't take and use whatever you want, from birth.
Both DS3 and Piper were in cloth from birth.
