He EATS!

My two year old! He already outweighs his 4 yr old brother.
He has food allergies & reflux, but he'll eat all day! I don't know what to do...he can't possibly be hungry, can he?
Throughout the day he has had: 4 big sausage patties, a banana, cantaloupe, grapes, 2 small bowls of rice (one with tuna), 6 clementines, some quinoa black bean chips, a handful of Cheerios & a cup of rice milk... It seems like a lot to me because he's always looking in the fridge/asking for something!
What can I do? I know I need to do more protein but his only sources can come from meat or beans, and he'll only do the beans in brownie form. (He's dairy, egg, nut, peanut & shellfish allergic). And I'm going to only start offering veggies when he's eaten and only looking for something to munch...
Anyone else's little one eat so much?

Does he drink a lot? Maybe try to fill him with water or keep him busy. Could be a boredom thing.

My 2.5 year old DD ate yesterday: 3 full size bowls of cereal, approximately 20 club crackers, 2 full size hit dog, 2 servings of spaghetti, 2 string cheese, a fruit cup, a handful of baby carrots, 3 full cups of milk and 2 of water. DD1 was ravenous at 2 as well, slowed down a lot at 3.

Re: He EATS!

Actually, depending on his activity level, that doesn't sound extreme to me. Especially as a lot of that is going to be burned off quickly. I would recommend some healthy fats as well as protein. I don't know if it's possible, but if you could find some protein powder he could have, you could try making him a shake or smoothie.

My little one eats like that. Actually that's how she would eat, but I end up being a meanie and stop her. That's more calories than I eat in a day LOL! I have to limit her though because she is already overweight. If your LO is normal weight I guess I wouldn't worry as long as it's healthy.

Re: He EATS!

My son has always eaten like that, and my daughter seems to be following suit. They're healthy, active kids.

I've also noticed that my son really ups his consumption before a growth spurt - he'll be a bottomless pit for a few weeks and start to get chunky, then BAM! a month after that he's lean again and an inch or two taller.

Re: He EATS!

I have one who eats (the little one) and one who has to be bribed/coerced to eat (the older one). Sometimes ds1 passes his leftover dinner to ds2! What you describe sounds ok for a growing 2 year old. He should slow down as his growth does.

Re: He EATS!

Sounds like my house. It goes in cycles though and some days/weeks it feels like they will never stop eating and other times I have to coerce them just to finish a plate. Is he allergic to coconut? Coconut oil or Flax seed oil is good in green smoothies.

Not allergic! I use coconut oil, flax seeds & chia seed in smoothies & baking.
