We just bought a new home and there Is sod down. But the weeds seem out of control. What are some Eco friendly lawn care survives that help est a nice healthy lawn with min weeds? Anything we can do ourselves?

We use Scott's weed and feed a few times a year on our lawn and it keeps it nice and thick while keeping the weeds at bay. Also we cut our lawn on the highest setting so we don't have to water as much in the summer. We have the best lawn on our street because most everyone else uses a lawn service that practically scalps their lawn.

Eta: pay attention to the kind of grass it is because some of it (st. Augustine) requires special fertilizers and others will kill it

I miss weed and feed, can't buy it in Canada anymore :-(
We use vinegar to get rid of weeds but only in between the rock paths because it kills the grass.
We pull and dig out the weeds, well we make the kids do it and pay them .25c/weed

Just pull the weeds. Think about it.... if it is strong enough to kill a weed, how can it possibly be good for you or your kids?
