What's on your wishlist for your house?

Frivalent, luxurious, aesthetic, posh, crazy, outlandish, selfish, or decadent wish lists only please! Nothing practical allowed or you will be boo'ed.

Unlimited budget.

Here's mine: I want to move my bedroom upstairs and have lots of windows on the southeast corner because I love morning light. The bedroom must also have an ensuite bath and spa for me, kitchenette and breakfast bar, reading room for DH, and a wraparound balcony.

Ready everyone? ... GO!

I work out of the home 40 hours per week and we have a ton of evening and weekend activities; so if you PM me and I don't respond right away please just be patient! Thank you! Cathy

I like to rebuild our deck so I don't have to fear falling through it every time I head to the backyard

My unlimited budget house would be like a plantation house. Big & 2 story with wrap around porches on both levels. A huge garage with a man cave above it. An outdoor kitchen with firepit. Inground pool & spa. A huge play area for kids & a view of the beach that I live nowhere near lol!!!

Open layout with lots and lots of windows. I'd love a skylight of some sort in the living room that I could close with the touch of a button. Wood floors, either painted white or a lighter wood. A claw foot tub in my bathroom, shower with 2 shower heads. A wraparound porch/balcony. A big treehouse in the backyard for DD (me).

My room would have a separate sitting room with an alcove/reading nook. Also would love a big library with white bookshelves and big glass patio doors open to the fresh air. The walls would open up to the outside.
Single mama to my sweet D. Taking life one day at a time.

We rent, but we tlak about buying land and building, so here is what i would build and where, if i had unlimited money:

1. Overlooks water, either an ocean or a river.

2. No more than 2 stories. First floor is open with at least one wall of floor to ceiling windows. Ideally those windows slide so an entire wall can basically disappear and the house would just be open to the outdoors. Second story has 4 bedrooms, including a master bedroom with a back patio.

3. Kitchen has a cement floor with a slight slope to it leading to a drain, like in restaurant kitchens. Spilled yogurt? Just spray it down the drain! Also no stone, like marble or granite. The counters would be either chopping block or stainless steel.

4. Separate building for guests and office. Wild have a mini kitchen and couple small bedrooms.

5. Living roof, as in a roof that has sod and moss or prairie grass growing on top, whatever is indigenous.

6. Smallest livable area possible. Bookshelves built into the staircase, storage in every wall, a 1000 sq foot home or smaller would be fantastic. Small bedrooms where a wall panel folds down to form a desk, that's what I imagine.

Re: What's on your wishlist for your house?

If we're in the city we're in now, a sauna. I am genuinely considering what i need to sacrifice to make this happen. And a fireplace.

If we're somewhere gorgeous and sunny, a pool.

No trees. I want to be like Anne of Green Gables and her need for trees, but the leaf-dropping grates on my bones, I hate when they're bare, I also hate evergreens (smug and ugly. smugly.), and they fall down on electrical lines and houses. Screw trees. (If we're somewhere sunny, palm trees are permissible. No cacti.)

A mess of wildflowers instead.

Oh, and our current neighbours have to live next door still. They're lovely.

I've thought about this WAY too much. Of course this is the "I just won a huge lottery jackpot and I'm building my dream house" design.

20+ acres, mostly level, large clearing around house, but lots of natural landscaping and trees beyond that. Room for gardens, barns, livestock, etc.

Two story, large front porch, big covered patio with outdoor kitchen and fireplace, great room setup with living/dining/kitchen combined, small office and guest rooms on main floor, secondary commercial style kitchen for preparing large meals for family and parties. Upstairs, a bonus room for the kids, three kids' bedrooms, a large bathroom, the master suite with a large bathroom (a big soaker tub in the middle of the room with a walk through shower behind it, and the toilet in a separate small room) and walk in closet with lots of built ins.

Another story upstairs! With an extra bathroom and huge master suite, with tons of windows that have black out blinds. And soundproof studio for DH to practice and record in.

5 more closets.

a huge playroom! Organized and supplied by a Montessori minimalist guru.

A nice landscaped backyard (with no snakes and honey badger that is on constant lookout for them) huge play center and swimming pool.

Oh and a longer and wider driveway that we could fit both of our cars into without be hitting one.
