Do you do your dishes before kids bedtime or after?

I've been wanting to get my 5 and 3 year old on a better night time schedule and have been wanting to bump their bedtime up earlier. I'm having a hard time working out how to do that, though, unless I start putting them to bed before dishes/kitchen cleanup. Do you other moms put your dishes off until after bedtime, or are you somehow able to get it done and still get the kids in bed by 7:30/8:00 ish? Thanks!

I make as little mess as possible. Baby goes down at 7, asleep by 7:30, DH puts the 2 big girls to bed at 8. I work on clutter/dishes/lunches during that time.

Dishes get done immediately after a meal. We eat about 6 pm, I do dishes while the kids play or watch Netflix (takes about 15 min to do dishes/clean up kitchen).. Then it's a snack and bed at 7:30.

ETA: My little ones are also 3 & 5.

Before. Once the kids are in bed, that's my time for relaxing, hobbies and sitting with DH.

I run the dishwasher 2-3x a day. I make sure the kitchen is clean and dishes put away in early afternoon, so when I start prepping dinner the dishwasher is empty. Right after dinner, I load the dishwasher and run it.

We do dishes immediately after dinner. They help clear off the table. It all gets done otherwise it will sit forever.

My kids are 7.5, 3.5, and 8 months.

ussually before I like to get them done right away. I also like to get most prep dishes done as we go or before we sit down to eat I get easily overwhelmed with too many dishes.
After dinner everyone helps to clear the table and wipe it down. My girls then gather school stuff to study at the table (little one gets picture books or coloring sorting stuff) they work why with eaither DH or I why the other gets the dishes cleaned. (dishwasher). One hour of study time is required dishes/ kitchen ussually take about 15 minutes.

We start bedtime routine at 7:30 regardless. Sometimes the dishes are done, sometimes they aren't started, sometimes DH does them while I get the kids ready. We always wait for DH to get home from work to eat dinner and some days that is 7. When he is out of town we eat earlier and I clean up before bedtime routine starts.

We try to get dishes done before bedtime but if we eat late and the kids just need some play time before bed with Mom and Dad then we put it off and get them done after the kids are in bed. It is probably 50/50 for if they get done before bedtime.

Re: Do you do your dishes before kids bedtime or after?

we also dont have any really consistent we eat at 6pm ect time.

Mondays- Often eating on the go because of DH even rehersals and DD clubs

Tuesday- Try to have dinner on by 6:30

Wednesday- Eaither need something ready to go by 4:30 because of DH even schedule or it is "everyone" for them selfs and DH eats on the go..

Thursday- Aim for around 6:30-7pm

Friday- usually can have a normal sit down family meal

Saturday- Depends on DH work

Sunday Depends on Mass...

MEals around here can be as early as 4pm or as late as 9pm late means the kids get sandwiches by 7pm.
