Re: Poll: Describe your Perfect Flat!

I'm really wanting to try bamboo but right now I'd say cotton. I prefer 2 sizes. The usual 27x27 just isn't absorbent enough for my boys so I like 32x32 for them now. I usually just padfold and like rectangular. I fold up the bottom to a square then fold them like a prefold and then in thirds it gives tons of extra layers in front!

Re: Poll: Describe your Perfect Flat!

Square, thicker birdseye cotton (like GMD), and a "medium" size (not small but not huge). I absolutely adore my GMD large unbleached flats, they've been perfect since DD was about 9 or 10 months old (ETA: and she's 23 months now), but I'm thinking I'm going to have to get some smaller ones for the next baby for the newbie and small stage. I really think a medium size would be an all around true one size flat.

I'd say the Flip flat in a large size to make all folds possible on big babies would be my perfect one.

Square, two sizes, serged edges (vs folded and sewn). Right now I prefer my hemp to my cotton, but if the hemp wears fast (time will tell) than I'd prefer birds eye cotton.

Either a non-stretchy bamboo/cotton blend that is a square 28x28, or a stretchy two size system with 24x24 and 28x28 size flats. Probably the non-stretchy one would be my absolute ideal. ETA: measurements would be AFTER prepping.

Re: Poll: Describe your Perfect Flat!

I like two sizes. I always thought I would like just one size, but they're always either going to be too big for newbies or too small/not enough aborbency for toddlers. With a two size system, the small flat would be perfect for newborn up to probably 6-8 months, then the large would work from that point until PT. That way, if we needed a doubler, we could just use the small flats as the doubler. Also, probably cotton birdseye just because it's versatile, long-lasting, and natural. Probably 24x24 and 28x28 after shrinkage, like Nattiecake said. Oh, and serged edges would be nice, but not if they're going to shred with repeated washings.

That would be for my everyday flats. But if I were looking for a luxury flat, a nice stretchy (single layer!) bamboo/cotton one would be fantastic.

I don't know....I just love flats--period. lol.

I do not want bamboo. I would like a good sized quality birdseye cotton flat that is SERGED but that is more affordable than the blueberry cotton flats were. I loved the size of my old Little Lions. I think they were supposed to be 27x 27 after prepping but ended up more in a rectangle which is actually more ideal for padfolding different lengths.
