Sensory Rooms

Hello all!

We moved from a school district that really had their special needs stuff ironed out. this small school is great but we are definitely rocking the boat and pushing for things that should have been available before.

Long story short, they are going to look into putting in a sensory room. But have no idea what would be good to add, etc.

My son had a sensory room at his previous school so i know what they used there but was wondering if I could get some more ideas of things that were useful/helpful in sensory rooms you are familiar with.

Thanks!

Re: Sensory Rooms

We have a platform swing at home with a rotational add on piece. The kids can swing and spin as much as they need too. If I had space I'd have big crash pads on the floor for jumping and crashing off things. Ball pit type set up with rice or beans is great for tactile. You can even just use a big plastic tub that a kid could fit inside with the rice or beans. I'll see if I can think of anything else.
