Re: Any one, use marshmallow fondont?

my sister does it too. I know she doesnt use the whole amount of sugar up front either. Kind of like when making bread- start with some, then add more as you knead until its the right consistency.

Re: Any one, use marshmallow fondont?

Pretty sure the recipe I used has more shortening than that. Mine worked beautifully...but it was a bit messy. Still...I'll take the mess any day to produce an edible result. The pre-made stuff is nasty.

Do not add water to combat dryness. Use shortening. Also, work fast and make sure to cover unused portions with a damp towel.

I am sorry I didn't realize the thread had been updated.

My daughter said to add shortening and keep it warm. She said they NEVER use water, it's always powdered sugar, marshmallows and only adding shortening to keep it from getting dry. She said they often have to microwave it a few times while working with it. They never ever use regular fondant at the cake shop, only the marshmallow.

Re: Any one, use marshmallow fondont?

I made it a while back and it was quite simple, the recipe called for it to be made in the microwave. Be wary though, it will crack if you try to knead it once it has dried, so you have to keep it wrapped tightly in plastic wrap. If I can find the recipe again, I'll post it. Also, it keeps well in the refrigerator for quite some time, a few months if I can recall correctly.
