Re: How do you clran your fruits/veggies?

Vinegar and water for us too. I also hate the smell, but it rinses totally clean and I don't use that much vinegar anyway. Some things I just spray, scrub and rinse (like tomatoes), and other things I soak for a few minutes (like grapes). I also used to add fresh lemon juice to the spray, which I liked, but then I needed to keep it in the fridge.

My concern is more about pesticides, we use vinegar and water as well. The smell goes away pretty quickly.

I assume there is already an unavoidable amount of pesticides inside the food :-( I wish I could buy organic, but that is not going to happen.

I just use cold, running water, too. Like mamacita1222, I'm kind of resigned to the pesticide exposure. I buy organic when I can and grow some of my own produce in the summer. Maybe we'll give the vinegar rinse a try. Does anyone have evidence that it is more effective than water alone?

The only evidence I have is a couple of blog posts from which I got the idea! I figure if it eases my anxiety about not getting organic everything, then it's worth the effort.

Just water. But if it is non-organic, I may use a natural citrus-based "veggie wash." The one spray bottle has lasted me years though... so long that I wonder if it is expired by now.

Dawn soap and water. You never know if roaches or other vermin were all over your food, and various people handle it before it gets to our homes. I do this to everything that's washable though, like milk, shrink wrapped cheese, etc...
