How to encourage baby to get out of ribs?

I'm almost 38wks. This child feels long. She's always hanging out in the right side of my rib. The ob confirmed last week that I had pretty bad bruising from her. I'm in so much pain. Any suggestions?

Well she's going to drop soon, but you can try some moves to move her into your pelvis, if she's head down. Squatting, birth ball, swimming breaststroke may all help.

I used to stretch my arms above my head up high to the sky and kind of bounce myself to get my lo's to move, it worked everytime but not for very long.

I swore by two belly dance moves you can do, even if you have never done belly dance, the first was Mayas, this video should help some The other was an Umi you don't have to get them pretty to get them to work, but the movement within the hips saved me when I was pregnant. They could help, oh and they also are a great stretch on the low back

Pelvic tilts help me a lot! I have the same sore ribs on the right side. You get on all fours and tilt just your pelvis up and down. I do sets of 40 three times a day. It's very helpful. Also, check out the spinning babies web site. Lots of helpful exercises there!

I had one son that was always in my upper right rib, I used to push on him to move! That helped a little. Other than that, just try to stretch out as much as I can to try lengthening my torso. GL mama!

Both of my babies did this a ton. I think the being down on hands and knees and rocking helped a little or just sort of massage gentle push to get them to shift a little tiny bit provided a little relief.

2nd the recommendation of spinning babies website. I had the same issue with poking in the ribs and had trouble getting ANY relief - heat would help things temporarily but best advice is just to hang in there.

I would take a warm bath/shower than put on lotion in a circular pattern (one direction) on my belly. Good luck!

Re: How to encourage baby to get out of ribs?

DS was always up in my ribs at the end of my pregnancy with him. I was miserable. I had one spot on my right side that was as sore as sore can be. I still remember it vividly. I used to literally push him down with my hand. He was sitting just right so that I could put my hand right on top of his butt and push him down. We would fight back and forth all day long. He'd go down for a few minutes and then find his way back again. It was miserable. Did I say it was miserable yet?
