Ligament Pain

I am having fun with Ligament Pain in my second PG that I didn't get with my first. I get sharp stabbing pains often around my belly. It started pretty early in the first trimester and I'm wondering if it will ever go away before it is over.

I don't necessarily feel it every day but close, I have learned how to minimize it some by being careful of my movements. Ug.

I wonder if it's a side effect of popping out quicker with the subsequent pregnancies. Sigh.

Re: Ligament Pain

I had a few with DD1 and having them at 3-4 weeks was how I was certain I was pregnant with DS. They did lessen and pretty much go away once my body got use to the changes

I was like at 5 weeks. I had a u/s at 6 weeks because of the pain they were afraid it was ectopic.

Re: Ligament Pain

Sometimes, seeing a chiropractor can help alleviate some of the pain, esp. as pregnancy progresses. Other than that, the only thing I've found that helps is just being careful of movement.

I agree with dressagemom - Chiropractor helped me, too! I was having SO much round ligament pain, it would bring me to tears.

Re: Ligament Pain

3rd the chiropractor recommendation, may be able to adjust your pelvis so your muscles aren't stretched so much.
I had the same issue, on and off and mostly just had to be extra careful with certain motions/activities that would aggravate things

Re: Ligament Pain

I started having my ligament pains at 7 weeks this time around.

to those who suggested the chiropractor... i alwasy have pelvis issues,... and Im 8 weeks pregnant now... is it safe to go to a chiro now or should I wait until at least 12 weeks? Im scared to do anything that might jeopardize this pregnancy

Re: Ligament Pain

It's safe to go now. The only worry would be that the chiro has the ability to accommodate a growing belly--i.e some have special tables with a belly cut out so you can lay face down for the treatment without putting a lot of pressure on the belly. Others can accommodate with using other techniques or pillows or something I think.
