We have four. Three were intended, the fourth was a bonus. I can't say how many another family should have, but for me, three was the perfect number. Four kids has been very difficult for me, but they're also close age and all young (only 5 years between DS1 and DS4), so that could be why.

ETA: I voted "other" because it all depends on your family and all that jazz.

Rather than focus on a number....focus on what you can give them all, can you provide what they need, do you have the time and energy for another, the resources etc.

Dwelling on a number isn't going to get you anywhere.

We have 7 kids. But not because I was set on a number but because we felt we could provide for them all (in ways that were appropriate for our family and not others, which is different for everyone.)

We've had 4 for four weeks now. I think we'd already reached maximum chaos with three boys, so the fourth seems to just slide right into our life. The only trouble is that ds4 is a bit of a fussy baby, but he'll outgrow that. I try to imagine what kind of a grown up family I want- lots of kids and grandkids, busy, loud, fun. So a bit of chaos now with 4 kids 6 and under is worth it.

4! Because I'd love to have 4 kids to me that seems like it'd be the perfect number, Idk why. Maybe because if I hadn't miscarried #1 & 3 I'd be pregnant with #4.

I say four, but the last time I assured a friend that four was totally doable she took my advice and then had twins.

Re: Three or Four?

I don't know that anyone can answer that question for you. I have 3 and that is perfect for us. I don't know that I could physically/emotionally give my all to a 4th baby. I LOVE itty bitty babies but I don't have it in me to go through that stage again. I don't think I'd be as good of a Mom if we added a 4th. Until we had #3 I don't know if I would have realized I was done at 3.

Someone has mentioned that when they get pg they want to ask me to baby sit for them and if I need a baby fix I'll probably do something like that. Enjoy them for a few hours and send them home to not sleep and be fussy all night.

Re: Three or Four?

I have three girls and it's very hard for me. My middle dd truly has "middle child syndrome" and special needs besides. If I ever have the opportunity to have another child I think I would.

Re: Three or Four?

I've always thought four sounded nice. Our number three is on the way and they'll all be about 20 months apart, but I want a break before we (potentially) consider a fourth, and it seems strange to have one last kid that's quite a bit younger than the others... so I don't know if a fourth will happen or not.

I'm over-thinking it. I feel like I'd be perfectly content either way.

I voted four.
