Re: Back labor

omg DD was posterior, it was awful! the day she was born I was having 'normal' BH, painless tightening in my belly, as the day went on I started getting cramps in my lower back too and by the time I was in full on labor my stomach still didn't have ANY pain at all with contractions, all in the back, like someone was sitting with their knee digging into it? or... wow. It was awful. The bath barely helped. Fortunately it was only 3 hours of real labor or I may have begged them to take me to the hospital!!

Re: Back labor

If it is, it might not be too late to turn the baby if it's posterior. If I were you, I'd get on my hands and knees now and not move! Honestly, back labor is awful; if there's anything you can do to try to prevent it, it's worth it.

Agreed. We had to get DS to flip over at the hospital and he didn't engage until he flipped. I don't think he fit or would have come out posterior. (And to clarify, I know plenty of women deliver posterior, I just don't think he fit through my pelvis or something as labor stalled with him until he flipped.)

Re: Back labor

A number of my babies have moved from posterior into anterior positions in labour. It's never too late. (Unless he's half way out, but then, who cares? )
Get on your hands and knees if you can - that might help.
