Re: Extened Breastfeeders - Question

At 26 months my daughter still nurses on demand and a couple of times at night and we are very happy with how things are going. I make sure to brush her teeth like mad before bed to get all food off.

Isn't part of the point if extended breast feeding the ability to comfort, snack, etc?

Re: Extened Breastfeeders - Question

I was upset when ped told me to only nurse my lo 3X/day at my lo's 15 month visit. He was all concerned that my lo wasn't gaining enough weight. When the nurse asked about feedings at the 18 month visit, I said I was still nursing on demand. Interestingly, the ped didn't say anything this time around and I certainly didn't ask for his thoughts on the topic. I've noticed that the amount of time between feedings is getting longer as he is getting more interested in other things in his environment. I'd do what a pp mentioned and "nod and ignore".

Re: Extened Breastfeeders - Question

DS is 2 and just weaned this week. However, I nursed him mostly at night right up until the end. I would nurse when he asked, which was usually just before bed and maybe after a nap.

Thank you all so much. I feed him when he asks and it really works for us. Some days he may nurse more than others, but I am fine with it. I think life would be holy hell if I tried to schedule him to a time he did not want it.
