Gah! Lunchmeat oops!

My hubby brought home some awesome sandwiches made on crossiants, & I totally started eating one before I forgot you need to heat lunch meat so there won't be any listeria risk. :/ here's hoping everything will be fine!! Anyone else eat cold cuts & not heat them? 3rd pregnancy, guess Im getting a little mindless.

I've eaten lunch meat through both of my previous pregnancies, and several times so far this time. It really doesn't worry me.

Thanks mamas!! I know- this is the first pregnancy I've eaten sushi in as well, but somehow the lunch meat worries me a little more. Oh well- I know there isn't much point in worrying now! Lol. At least it was good!

You should be just fine, I used to go to subway for a cold cut trio weekly during all of my pregnancies.

Re: Gah! Lunchmeat oops!

I'm another who ate a pretty decent amount of lunch/deli meat through all 4 of my pregnancies. I doubt one sandwich will be an issue.

Re: Gah! Lunchmeat oops!

Our tummies produce acid so strong it can dissolve nails. And our guts are full of good bacteria that kill bad bacterias. As long as you're not a regular antibiotic user, you should be just fine. On any of those silly food "risks." I did sushi, raw dairy, lunchmeat, soft cheeses and no problems.
The only one I pay any attention to is no drinking, and even that I think is an overly crazy rule. One drink here or there is fine. It's totally normal to have a small glass of wine or beer w/ meals in other cultures. It's excessive drinking that will cause harm.

Re: Gah! Lunchmeat oops!

Cold deli meat was one of the few things I could keep down in my first trimester. Weird I know but I ate tons of it. My doc wasn't worried and neither was I.
