Re: Gah! Lunchmeat oops!

My other pregnancies were ten-fifteen years ago. This is a new rule. I laughed on my first OB visit with this pregnancy when my doc told this. There is no telling how many times I ate cold lunchmeat with the others, yet I have three perfectly healthy dc. Don't worry.

The chances are so small many people don't even bother. I was pretty good with my first, with the second I've cheated a few times. It's really very unlikely and in the end a personal preference whether to get follow these guidelines.

Haha! Well, if the lunch meat didn't do it the sashimi last night may. my midwife told me it was perfectly fine to eat raw fish as long as it was previously frozen, so! Oh well. The one thing I AM staying away from this preg (like always) is alcohol.

Re: Gah! Lunchmeat oops!

I heated it for sandwiches... but I prefer them hot. On the other hand, where I work has meat and cheese cups... lunch mean and I ate those like there was no tomorrow.

The only one I pay any attention to is no drinking, and even that I think is an overly crazy rule. One drink here or there is fine. It's totally normal to have a small glass of wine or beer w/ meals in other cultures. It's excessive drinking that will cause harm.
So glad you said this. I do all this too while pregnant but rarely admit it for getting flamed and shamed.

Re: Gah! Lunchmeat oops!

LOL Subway was the only lunch I ate during the first 6 weeks! AND if Subway wasn't an option, I would sit down with a package of smoked ham lunch meat and go to town on it! Me and the kiddo are still alive and well!

ETA: And no way am I eating heated lunch meat...gross! No microwaved lunch meats here.

I figure that as long as I trust the source and know it's fresh... I'm eating it!
