Re: anyone been diagnosed with a subchorionic hemmorhage?

I had one early on in this pregnancy. I had bleeding at 8W and the doctor had me come in for an u/s. They found the SCH on the u/s (I had my dating u/s exactly one week before and there was no mention of the SCH so not sure if it was there or not). The doctor didn't tell me to do anything differently and that they typically resolve by 20W.

Then at 16W I had bleeding again, but this time it was clots. Had me come in again and the SCH was gone but now I have placenta previa. I'm curious if the two are related...

Hmm...that's a good question. Although I know in my case, there is no previa, but the placenta is anterior. The only problem this caused me was with my last pregnancy, also an anterior placenta, it ended up being my longest labor because baby was born face up. They told me it takes babies longer to descend the birth canal like that. I wasn't diagnosed with an SCH with that pregnancy ( or any of the others ) but I do know that I bled pretty heavily after the birth to where there was some concern about too much blood loss, although they got it under control. It makes me nervous about this delivery, though...and I guess that's why this SCH issue adds to my concern... :-/

Re: anyone been diagnosed with a subchorionic hemmorhage?

I had a massive SCH at 8w. I have never bled so much in my life. It was terrifying, but baby was fine. I continued to bleed for another 8w. I was not put on bedrest. My OB told me there is no evidence that being on bedrest will help the situation. I wasn't even on pelvic rest. That baby is now 25m old.

I had one at 11 weeks it cleared up by 21 weeks, it was very scary though and I was on bedrest until it went away. I also had placenta previa which is now moved up, thank God!

Re: anyone been diagnosed with a subchorionic hemmorhage?

Well...had my 5th ultrasound today. On the positive side, our baby girl looks good, no problems :-) The downside...not only is the hemorrhage still there, it's gotten significantly larger. I saw my regular midwife today and she said she wasn't putting me on bed rest, but she wanted me to strictly follow pelvic rest precautions now...absolutely no lifting anything ( tell that to my 18 month old! ), no sweeping, mopping, vacuuming ( darn, lol ) no sex ( my poor DH... :-/ )...I am supposed to take it easy and just rest. Easier said than done!! This time she wants me to come back in 2 weeks to have it rechecked, and if it's gotten any larger she's sending me to a specialist for further evaluation...sigh...

How is everyone else doing?

I've been on pelvic rest since 16W. That is interesting...without being TMI I just kind of feel like a teenager. Hahaha

I have my next u/s tomorrow (20W).

Re: anyone been diagnosed with a subchorionic hemmorhage?

I had a SCH with my 5th pregnancy. Didn't know I was pregnant at first, thought my period was just late. I bled heavy for 12 days before thought to do a test, it was + and I called my midwife. She said it sounded like an early miscarriage, wait and see. I started bleeding again a couple of weeks later but still had a positive test so they did blood hcg counts. They went up! So they scheduled a ultrasound and baby was perfectly fine but there was a SCH. They said bedrest/pelvic rest was more of a placebo, something to make you feel like you are doing something so I didn't do it. I just took it easy, my kids were all older so I didn't have to do any lifting etc. I bled off and on until 23 weeks, passed one big clot then and it was over. Baby was born 3 days after his EDD, perfectly healthy. The placenta was a little small but we don't know if that was from the SCH or not.

Re: anyone been diagnosed with a subchorionic hemmorhage?

I did. I ended up being put on bed rest and having preterm labor. I was airlifted at 23 weeks but docs got contractions under control with a med pump I wore til 37 weeks. I hemmoraghed during birth and required transfusions. Take it easy! My big bleed came after a long morning of garage saling, no lifting but walking, shortly after being taken off bed rest for a hematoma that had stopped bleeding. My son is now 5 and doing great btw.
