Re: How far do you live from your hospital?

There is a hospital 30 minutes to the north and 30 minutes to the south. Neither are fabulous, but they would work in a pinch. We've used the ER twice in the one to the south, and my daughter was hospitalized there in the children's section last year and they did what was needed. I had an induction due to fetal demise in the one to the north a few years back. That hospital was really small, but did have labor and delivery. I don't have a hospital of my own though. I have my babies out of the hospital, and would only use one in case of emergency.

It would be nice to be super close to a hospital, but I weighing all things, I chose a rural home, because it suits my lifestyle and personality best, and this is where I'm happiest.

Re: How far do you live from your hospital?

If it were me, I'd plan for a homebirth. My last one went so quick, driving an hour would have meant baby was born in the car. But if I didn't have that crazy fast labor, an hour would bother me just because it's going to be uncomfortable.

We live less than 10 minutes from the hospital I'll deliver at this time around. Less than 5 if dh drives the way he did last time.

We live 1 hour and 15 minutes away from the hospital where my dr delivers. There are several in between though if we really get in a crunch. But having to be induced with my first two, I'm not worried.

We are 1 hour and 15 minutes away from the hospital we'll be delivering at with our midwife. A little nervous also because with my first I was induced at 36 weeks because of my blood pressure, so I have no clue how fast I will go! So it could be interesting! Good luck to you, and I hope all goes well mamma!

Re: How far do you live from your hospital?

I am 50 minutes away from the birth center. Not an easy 50 (not a direct highway route or anything). i'm a little worried about getting there in time, but not worried about issues. There are closer hospitals if I need emergency care I guess as well.

I'm a little over 30 minutes away from the hospital i want to deliver at. They have the highest NICU in the state and are best known in our area for natural birth - weird, but awesome combo!

If something became truly emergent, there is a hospital about 10 minutes away that's not bad. However, if there was any real emergency, they would just stabilize and send me to the hospital I prefer anyway.
