DS is sensitive to dairy, which I know is fairly common. However, he is also sensitive to tomatoes, broccoli, and anything spicy. This has really cut into meals I normally make as I love tomato (pizza, BBQ sauce, Mexican, spaghetti, etc).
I have found a few things so far that I like, but am looking for more suggestions. Advertisement |

You can substitute Pesto for tomato sauce on a lot of stuff...I love it on pizza! I buy the Kirkland brand in a big jar from Costco.

Re: Dairy free meals
mama, Thanks for the links! The chicken teriyaki is on the menu for next week!
juliasmom, Thanks for the idea about pesto. I haven't found any good diary free cheeses though. Guess I could do a cheeseless pizza! ![]() |

Re: Dairy free meals
Cheeseless pizza is great for kids- even when they are use to having cheese. DD is dairy free and doesn't like tomatoes but she can eat tomoato sauces. You can do some back to basic type recipes- chicken and dumplings, chicken pot pie (or veggie pot pie, beef pot pie), traditional shepherds pie (does not have cheese on it- its pot roast style meat with beef gravy and veggies topped with mashed potatoes), fajitas- meat or veggie, ham steaks with pineapple, whatever veggie and rice pilaf, chicken noodle soup, veggie soups.

Re: Dairy free meals
My kids don't even notice the lack of cheese on their pizza. It's really easy to make your own pesto sauce, and it freezes well. We make ours with basil, olive oil, garlic, and salt.
You can use soaked (a few hours, but overnight is better), whipped cashews instead of ricotta in lasagna. My FIL didn't believe it was cheeseless! I add in water, salt & pepper, garlic powder (or roasted garlic cloves), and some nutritional yeast (has the savory quality of parmesan). Search for vegan recipes. You will find a bunch of stuff. Sometimes I add an egg back in, sometimes not. Find a milk substitute you like and use it. Our favorites are almond milk and coconut milk. PSA: Don't let your husband use the vanilla flavored almond milk to make eggs. |

Daiya cheese is the most decent cheese sub we have found.

Re: Dairy free meals
I guess I should clarify that DS is 4 mo old and is EBF. So while he won't notice cheeseless pizza, I definitely will!
![]() teacherpippi, we have already discovered that about vanilla almond milk. Too bad I didn't post sooner! I had forgotten about shepherd's pie. I will have to add that to the menu! Thanks for all the suggestions. Some of them are obvious, but I guess I overlooked them. I blame the sleep deprivation. |
