How long is your child's school commute?

Curious as to how far people are willing to travel.

We homeschool now, when we sent her to school it was a 20 minute ride to school or a 1 hr bus ride.

Re: How long is your child's school commute?

Ours is long. From our house to the high school, it's only 8 miles but its 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic, and can be a 45+ minute bus ride. The elem school was closer but they built a new school and reorganized the district and our elem school is now on the opposite end of the district. We are in the farthest northeast corner of the district and the new elementary school is in the farthest northwest corner. It was needed and it was a good location but they didn't quite have enough students right in that area so our neighborhood got tossed in as an afterthought. We drive right past the school my oldest went to in order to get to the new one.

But at the moment the girls go to preschool at a closer elementary, only about 15 minutes. I dread how long Rae Rae's bus ride will be next year for kindergarten.

10 -15 minutes from here to there, or a 30 minute bus ride.

7 miles, which is about a 15 minute drive in traffic at the time we go.

3 min for ours that goes to prek.
Schools here are all zoned and most kids are within just a few minutes. The drive for high-school is a little longer.

My neice gets driven to a magnet school and that's about 30 min each way. The bus would be over an hour each way.

Re: How long is your child's school commute?

It's about 3 miles away, but it's in the middle of a subdivision with speed limit of 25 so it takes about 10 minutes, she rides the bus, but we live in a subdivision so it's the only stop. She gets out at 3:18 and the bus usually drops off at 3:35 but that includes loading the bus up at school. So it is about 10 minutes.

My son's school is about half a mile away. In a car it takes a couple of minutes but with traffic it can take up to 20 minutes to actually drop him off. It takes us about 10 minutes, walking from our house which is what we do when we can.
