No one is going to like his name.

It's old fashioned to be sure.
And not a name my husband or I have ever hear anyone called. It is Biblical- he was one of three who walked with God. The meaning is greater than the name, IMO. It is Enoch.
I just told my mother & got "oh no!" Sorry!" An silence.
I know, I know! It certianly takes getting used to! And it took me awhile to come around to the name as well! What if he doesn't like it, ect ect. But when we name out children we don't jut go for sound, we go for meaning. Hopefully not everyone will react negatively. :/

I've heard it before. I like it.

The main character on Boardwalk Empire has this name too.

I know a few guys with that name. One time I was talking to a friend and her friend about my friend Enoch and the other lady gasped. Turns out she got Enoch and eunuch mixed up and couldn't believe a mom would name her kid that.

I think it's awesome!

After DS#5 was born, we were trying to come up with a name for him. DH was convinced "E" had to be the first letter and we liked Enoch the best, but it didn't work for us only because DS #4 is named Nick and I thought they were too close. So then he became Ethan.

We did have a neighbor with a DS named Enoch, and one of our friends now is Enoch, and my in-laws lived in a city called Enoch for several years.

I just saw this name yesterday in a post on here. Someone who posted response, had a son by that name. I think you should go with what you like, especially if you and your husband agree. It's usually hard to agree on a name

Re: No one is going to like his name.

I like it! But then, despite being a vocal atheist I adore a lot of biblical male names. My favorite musician is an orthodox jew (so they have a lot of the same names) and his three sons are named Laivy, Shalom and Menachem and I think that those are some of the coolest names ever.

If anything, I admire people like you and your DH who stick with more traditional names that have a special meaning. So many people stick their kids with really mainstream biblical names because they want to say it's religious, but pay no attention to meaning.
