Is Julian too feminine sounding?

Dh loves the name and I go back and forth. I will not be hurt or heartbroken by criticism. I'm not attached to the name, genuinely curious what the overall thought might be?

My older son just a bit ago today told me there is a girl in his class named Julian. I said what? Julian is a boys name. So no I don't think it's feminine.

If I hear Julian I think boy.

It drives me nuts with my DS class. I swear 1/2 the girls have boys names so he is constantly correcting me or anyone else that Logan is a girl ect.

I personally dislike giving traditionally boy names to girls. Now if it is a one like Chris, Jordan that is different.

Nope not at all. I absolutely love the name. My husband on the other hand thinks it is a girls name. I think he just needs to watch a bit more of Star Trek DS9. The doctor's name is Julian. He is a man.

Re: Is Julian too feminine sounding?

Julian was the top of my boys list until I started teaching. My 2nd year I had a horrible student named Julian and every one I've met since then is naughty!

I think Julian is perfectly masculine, if that's the name you choose.

Re: Is Julian too feminine sounding?

I've only known of Julian being a boy name, but wondered if it sounds to similar to Julie/Julia/Juliana.

Re: Is Julian too feminine sounding?

Sounds boy to me. British maybe, but boy!! I obviously like British sounding boy's names. And my sister told me that when I was a little girl I wanted to grow up and name my son Julian. I don't think my dh likes it though.
