Any "older" pg mamas out there?

I am 45 years old and have 6 children, ages 25, 22, 19, 12, 10, 5. We just found out a few days ago that we are expecting again! This was a complete shock to us!! When I was "late" I just chalked it up to being pre-menopausal. My hubby bought a pg test to just rule it out. I was stunned when the + showed up almost immediately! So, here we are starting all over! So I'm wondering if there's anyone else here who is in a similar boat as I am and willing to share some support?

OH wow!! Not in the same type of situation here (although being pg at 36 has still proven to be a lot rougher than pregnancy in my 20's!) but still happy to offer support! I can imagine how shocking this must be, and I bet your emotions are pretty mixed right now. Even though you weren't expecting it, what a precious blessing. Just take things day by day, get lots of rest and take good care of yourself...and know that sometimes the most unexpected things in our lives can be our greatest blessings. Congratulations, mama! :-)

I am pregnant with #12 at age 38. We hope to still be having babies into our 40's and late forties. :O) I think it is wonderful to be having babies into our forties, a real blessing. I do believe we should take care of ourselves and eat high quality food. And I think that can make a pregnancy so much easier. Our older children love the idea of another baby and are always excited to hear when they have another sister or brother on the way. I just love seeing the interaction all the ages have together and the true appreciation they have for one another. Not something I ever had as a child. It truly amazes me.

Congrats to ya!

42 here, feel great, cautiously expecting, had a scare with bleeding 3 weeks ago. But all reports are so far so good, heard the hb, everything measures fine. We got pg during our 2nd month of ttc, so truly a shock it happened so fast.

DH does not have any bio children and we had finally been blessed to try since dd has been after us to have children since we began our lives together back in 2004. He's raised her most her life and is more a father to her than her actual estranged dad ever was. We delayed due to her dad causing strife, but things have finally settled down and I am happy we can finally move on with our lives.

Re: Any "older" pg mamas out there?

Thank you SO much for all your replies!! It's so nice to know I'm not alone, even though we were not trying to conceive like so many others I've read about online who are my age!! I look forward to being able to lean on all of y'all, and maybe even return the favor if/when I have the chance!

I do love each and every one of my children, and wouldn't give anything for them! I know God has blessed me to give me this opportunity! I also know it's going to be a big strain. That's why I'm seeking a support group now! And yes, I know He is my biggest support!

Thank you, ladies!!!

I'm 39, dh is 41. We had been trying for three years though, since we lost the last one. Our oldest is 19.5, married, and trying for her own baby!! Our youngest is 5, will be 6 by the time baby is born. We probably won't have any more after this. Congrats!!
