Re: Have you ever been told the wrong sex during an ultrasound?

With my first I was told boy at 16 weeks then at our 20 week anatomy scan we were informed that was incorrect.

We choose not to find out the sex before birth. I do personally know one person who was told boy and baby was born a girl!

This thread is a little frightening! I was hoping not many had this experience! If this baby ends up with a penis he's coming home to lots of tulle, purple, greases, and headbands!

Re: Have you ever been told the wrong sex during an ultrasound?

I was told at 20 weeks that my 2nd was a girl. The tech said she was 100% sure.

At 40 weeks 3 days, HE was born. Hah! Bringing clothes was a request from anyone who came to visit.

He was a c-section and the room went from happy/excited to dead silent. I was pretty sure I was dying and they just didn't want to say anything. Finally, one of the nurses held him up so I could see that my "girl" was a boy.

If so, was it corrected in a later ultrasound or were you shocked at birth? At how many weeks was the sex incorrectly determined?

I'm curious to hear how common this is (or isn't)!
Ive known multiple people who were told wrong sex. Happened to 2 of my coworkers, thankfully they were able to just trade baby stuff lol. It seems pretty common and was one of the reasons I chose not to find out with any of mine.

I've known a couple people onDS that found out at 16 weeks that it was a girl only to find out later on it was a boy.

I've never been told wrong.

Re: Have you ever been told the wrong sex during an ultrasound?

I have had a few friends that were told wrong... w/ us DS was so obviously boy- that I could have told you looking at the US for the first time seeing an US. After that first one we had US almost every two weeks for one reason or another and he was always boy- my last US was the day before induction, the US was up on the big screen in front of me, and the doctor (who wasn't my normal doctor) walks in and says- "oh aren't you excited to be having a little girl"... I about fell off the table before he said "just kidding, I just wanted to see how you would react, it's definitely a boy".
