You just had your first baby. You have all of the answers. Enjoy it while it lasts!

And please keep your unsolicited advice to yourself. I'm 4 months into kid #4. Do you honestly think that I haven't thought of that? Do you honestly think that I haven't tried that? I'm just struggling because life would be boring if it were easier. Your perfect parent bubble is due to burst any day now. Maybe it already has, but you didn't notice because were too busy looking down at me juggling my litter. Gah!

I used to have all of the answers too. Too bad I can't travel back in time.

Umm thanks. we are 15 months into her non sleeping habbits. Tried that one a long time ago.

You mean having a baby doesn't make you an automatic expert on kids? That is crazy talk!

After having two totally different kids in every possible way, I don't assume anything. I do think that most people are trying to be helpful though. I think they are anyway. I'm not the type of person to invite advice unless I actually go out of my way to ask for it.

It totally does. You start out speeding along at 70 mph, boasting to everyone about how you know everything. You LOVE to give advice! Then, very suddenly, you crash straight into an invisible wall. That wall has a name. It's called, "I HAVE NO FREAKING CLUE WHAT TO DO NEXT!" You still haven't realized it yet, but the road to your kid becoming an independent and responsible adult is loaded with walls like this. Sometimes you have to have a second kid before you fully begin anticipating the inevitable walls. There's too much time between kid #1 and kid #2. You give way too much advice. Everyone probably hates you. Then kid #2 comes along and you start hitting their walls. THEN you get it. Then you hate everyone that acts like you used to.

Preach it sister!!

I knew EVERYTHING with DS #1. A mere months old I had it all figured it. Heck, I would never say an unkind to word that precious thing, never let him cry. Didn't believe in this and that....

Hold the phone, along comes #2 and shatters it all!

As the old saying goes...

Before I had children I had six theories about raising them. Now I have six children and NO theories!

I very rarely get unsolicited advise, knock on wood! What I hate are allll the questions from strangers in public. It stems from having twins & I fear it will never stop. I get asked EVERYTHING - but mostly utterly stupid stuff. Yes, there really are dumb questions! I just want to scream 'twins are EVERYWHERE, they are not a side show!'. But, I've never yelled at anyone (not yet anyway).

How long did they sleep together
do they choose to dress similar/alike
which one is the smart one
why does one have curly hair
do you separate them when one is sick
Do they ever fight
Do they share a room
How much weight did you gain
Did you wait until they were both ready to pl
Do they like the same activities/toys/color/foods/music/friends/clothes....
Did you tandem feed
How long did you bf
Did they nap/sleep at the same time
Did you push a schedule on them
How much do you spend on birthdays
Do you celebrate their birthdays separately or together
Which one is older
Do they know which one is older
Are they competitive

My teacher lied to me. He said there was no such thing as a dumb question. This proves he was wrong.

I don't think I'd ask hardly any of those questions, other than the nap/sleep just because I'd be curious since all babies are different.

But goodness, I hate when people ask about the weight/finances.

And BTW, still love your avi!!!!!!!

As a parent of 3, I have chimed in when parents of 1 post problems. I almost hate to do it, but then I think, "maybe it will help," and I do it sometimes. I try to work the English language to make it sound less condescending, though. I find that most people posting problems are looking for someone to relate with them and not sort out the problem for them.
