Is it ok to have dental work done when you're nursing a baby?

I'm trying to find some up to date info on this to pass on to some friends. Can anyone help out with info?

I do not remember for sure. I know that you have to be careful if the dentist gives you any medication, but I don't remember about any anesthetic. I would recommend calling the dentist direct and asking.

My Mood:
What kind of work? I just had a filling done with local anesthetic and I'm still nursing my toddler 3 times per day.

So far I've spent 6 years of my life (and counting) nursing. I've had several fillings and a crown or two during that time. Just let the doctor know you're nursing and they'll either adjust the dose or use nursing-friendly meds.

I've never heard not to. Perhaps if you are being given narcotics but just for regular stuff or a local aesthetic then I see no reason why not. You can certainly do those things while pregnant.
