wipe off ointment during changes?

My 10 day old has the beginnings of what looks like a rash-on one butt cheek there are a few pinpoint red bumps. I have some burts bees ointment to use, but when I put this on and I am doing a diaper change the next time, if there is still some on her butt do I wipe it off or leave it on the butt? KWIM?
Thanks
Jessica

Pinpoint red bumps sounds like a yeast rash. Do you have any yeast cream? You could try a wipe solution with TTO (tea tree oiil) in it. I would definitely give the bum a good wiping every time you change and reapply whatever ointment you're using.

Also sounds like heat rash, I always wipe everychange and I have a boy that is 13months now, from day one we wipe no matter what with every diaper and have (knock on wood) only had a handfull of rashes at tops But I always wipe and add new cream with rashes, good luck
