Re: Nursing while PG?

I voted other...have nursed while pregnant in the past, but not currently (or at least I sure hope I'm not pregnant!). Twice. If you can make it through the month or two of pain, the remainder of the pregnancy is no problem. But, man, does it ever hurt and I can't blame anyone for quitting!

Re: Nursing while PG?

I nursed DS#1 for the first 17 weeks of my second pregnancy (he was 19.5 months old and weaned himself). It hurt me for the first trimester, but after that it stopped hurting. I loved it, though---I was so sick my first trimester, and nursing was a way I could just lay down and have my toddler still!

I nursed though the last two. I never had any problems. The last 2 babies were smaller by about 2 pounds than the first two, so I wonder if that was related.

Re: Nursing while PG?

i nursed dd#1 for the first 4 months of my pregnancy, until she self weaned at 18 months. Im thinking the sourness or change of the taste of my milk caused her to wean though

Re: Nursing while PG?

I am 18 weeks with baby #4 and have been nursing throughout. My dd has just about weaned herself; since, I have lost most of my milk supply. She still nips every day. I think she does it just to see if I will let her. I always let her and she will nurse about one minute and get up to play. I never had really bad breast pain but some days were really uncomfortable when I was about 12 weeks or so and still had milk. Anyway, I am thinking she will want to nurse when the baby comes and I will sure let her. I had AF come back when she was 11 months and got pg about five months later. Oh and I didn't bother telling my doc I was still nursing. I figured if he didn't ask, I wasn't going to volunteer. I hadn't nursed any of my others and I wasn't about to give up this time around. I haven't ever had any complications either though.

DJ weaned himself when I was about 4 months pregnant...he was 19 months. I was prepared to nurse through the pregnancy and even tandem but I was very relieved when he gave it up.

I had ZERO pain with nursing through the first trimester, which was really surprising to me because I had heard that was the toughest part, plus my breasts are usually super tender in early pregnancy (they weren't at all this time.) The pain did come at 19 weeks; I think that's when my milk began drying up. I'm still nursing at 27 weeks pregnant, and it does hurt a bit, but it's not too bad because he only nurses once for bedtime (at most, sometimes he skips a night or two.)
