Remember, your previous posts as well as your feedback (who you left feedback for, who left for you, etc) follows you around in every post. These are simple tools to use to find who or what transaction you are referring to. If you cannot find a way to word this without giving it up, feel free to PM a mod.

When posting your first post about the issue in question, please post in such a way that the person you are speaking of will not be insulted. Even though its not posted publicly, they DO get defensive and will out themself. So PLEASE, post your orignal post in such a way that it is not offensive to the other person.

Oh, and please do not share names through PM. Obviously we can't enforce this, and we aren't going to try. But if you insist on negating the anonymity of the forum, refrain from posting about it publicly (for example, "Can you PM me who you are talking about?").

Strikes are given for outing yourself or the other party in this forum. After three strikes for this, you will have a six month ban. Any more after you come back and it will be permanent.

So, If you out yourself or the other person/company in this forum or any other forum on DS intentionally, you will receive a strike.

Felt the need to bump this since there has been a higher than normal amount of people outing themselves here.

If someone posts a question about a transaction, and you happen to be the other party in the transaction, and you come into that thread and post that, then THAT is "outing" yourself.

What about when the OP basically outs someone with the very detailed info they gave? Sometimes it takes all of two seconds to figure out exactly who someone is talking about. Is that okay since its coming from the OP and not the other person or is the rule about any outing at all?

i don't think it can be helped sometimes, I think the rule is to use caution so as not to make it blantantly obvious......but otherwise have at it, amiright?

If an OP posts about a transaction and gives a bunch of details so that even a newbie can figure out who is being talked about, that's wrong and the post will be deleted. If the OP goes out of their way to just give their question and leaves all details out of it, but a handful of people still figure it out, then we'd kindly ask that handful to be mum about it so the OP can get their question answered, b/c the OP wasn't trying to be "outful" for lack of a better word.

I figure it's because if someone outs themselves and tells their side of the story, it can leave room for drama or arguing, and mediation should only be done through the mods and not in public.

The whole reason this "Transaction and Feedback Discussion" sub-forum was created was so that mamas could come to discuss the finer details of transactions that have gone wrong. However, the rule in this sub-forum is that no one can be mentioned by name (screen name or real name) in any post. If they are, the thread gets deleted.

The problem recently is that when Mama Z comes to discuss a matter here and Mama X sees the thread, Mama X "outs" herself by posting about the matter and naming herself, then by the rule, the thread must be deleted and thereby, Mama X has erased the possibility that someone might see a complaint raised about her - whether the complaint is right or wrong.
