Re: Horrible Night in the Maternity Ward
you SHOULD be fine in another week. just try to stick out 7 more days and know that for every day you keep baby in is 2 days baby won't have to stay there. i was in the hospital on bedrest for about 4.5 weeks with ds2 and it was horrible. i had one VERY awful nurse. a few things she did: i was on mag sulfate and was vomiting constantly and could barely move, i couldn't reach the vomit sacks (like it would've helped anyhow) so i'd have to page a nurse, she would come in, i would vomit and she would fold it and put it UNDER my pillow!!! also i lost control of my bladder but could not stand the cath, she put me in a dipe b/c she was sick of changing that large hospital pad (like i wasn't going to page when i peed in the dipe!), she was pissy everytime she had to change the dipe and never cleaned me...i ended up with diaper rash. not to mention i was so drugged up i barely understood any choices they gave me anyhow! dh had to work to support us, and we lived an hour away (so did my parents), with ds1 only be 15 months old at the the time them coming up to "help" me just wasn't an option everyday. i barely could comprehend anything so they had no idea i was being treated so horrible. needless to say once off the mag and some memory returned i spoke to another nurse (who also found a cath that was small enough it didn't bother me, she was wonderful. also found out mean nurse didn't use the numbing gel either!!) and the bad nurse was no longer allowed in my room.
moral of this story....speak up when you KNOW you're being treated horribly so the bad treatment doesn't continue! i'd go ahead and call in and report her and have it put in your chart NOW that she's not to be in your room.
