Re: Walking and Talking...
Hmmm, Hazel says:
Hi(but only in a whisper while waving) Mumm Dada Ow(when I brush her hair after Morgan, because Morgan always has knots) Sissy(only when promted repeatedly by her sisters) Thanks(when you give her something, sounds like "danks") So, I guess she does say a few things

Re: Walking and Talking...
I remember at ds1's 12mo appt, they asked if he was saying at least 5 words. At ds2's 9mo appt, they asked if he was saying at least 2 words. I suppose maybe that's supposed to be the average? I dunno. I just remembered it so I thought I'd throw it out there.

Re: Walking and Talking...
I have a similar thing:
DS1 was speaking full sentences by 18 months and DS2 has mama & dada at one year which is wayyyy behind. DS2 is physically more advanced generally thatn DS1 but is still behind him in walking. I have a little mantra I tell myself: "I'll worry when they put age of walking and talking on the Harvard application" Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't.

Re: Walking and Talking...
I agree with what the other moms already said; each kid has its own pace for certain things.
DD was a late crawler at 11 months, but also started walking 4 days later. Compared to that DS was a bit quicker w/crawling at 8.5 months, walking w/11 months just like her, and he doesn't seem to be a big talker at all! (DD was a big talker and had a large vocabulary at 18 months) He didn't even say 'Dada' yet and dropped 'Mama' after he said that around 5-6 months of age. He now sometimes just babbles 'gaga, baba, etc' I'm with Tory; I try not to worry too much about it. IMO there's also a lot of 'character' that plays a role already in that young age. DD for ex. never shuts up nowadays to whereas I'd imagine DS will be more a quiet type like his father is.
