Christmas bakers

Tell me what you like to bake this time of year.

I like to do sugar cookies. I use a combination of colored sugar or colored frosting piped on to decorate them.

Re: Christmas bakers

My kids are older and are taking over some of the baking duties.

They've been on a jelly roll kick and I know that will be on the menu for Christmas.

I will be making a Hazelnut bread ring. Those just look pretty and are pretty easy.

There been talk of cookies but not sure if we will be doing that.

I like to make shortbread jam sandwich cookies for family- we can't eat them because dd can't have butter and they don't really work out so well with earth's balance. For home we use cake mixes to make most of our cookies because they turn out nicely and don't require any butter. Sometimes we use Pillsbury sugar dough to make sugar cookies again because it has no butter. Sucks I would like to make completely homemade but we just get to decorate. Earth's balance is a wonderful product it just doesn't quite work right for cookies.

Re: Christmas bakers

I tend to make a lot of quick breads and cookies for Christmas baking but every year I try to make one new thing I've never made before. This year, being almost full term and having little motivation to do much of anything besides what is necessary, I plan on Sprtiz cookies (tradition) and coal (new this year), that's it.

I mostly stick to cookies, but I really love to bake all the things! We always do sugar cookies. I usually do some kind of mint cookie as well. I think I'm gonna try my hand at Christmas Crack this year (a friend made it for me last year, and it was delicious).

I bake sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, m&m cookies, spritz cookies, quick breads, and cinnamon rolls. I also do fudge and candy.

Baking for Christmas is a nice activity especially with children! Cookies are a favorite here.

We always called it saltine toffee. It is so ridiculously easy and quick to make and everyone loves it. I have to make it with allergy friendly subs and it still turns out great.

Cookies - cream cheese spritz are a family tradition, and we'll probably do sugar cookies so DD can decorate. Honestly, this year that's probably it... Other years I have gone all out, but time is scarce right now.
I may do some kind of fudge or bark or chocolate covered something for daycare... Not sure.
AND I just assembled the gingerbread houses. I cheat in a major way with graham crackers and hot glue but they are just fir fun decorating! When DD gets older I could imagine making real gingerbread, etc.

Re: Christmas bakers

Hot glue is brilliant, that would make the process much more fun and less frustrating.

We make very gingery ginger cut out cookies and decorate. Homemade vanilla for gifts. Fruitcake (don't knock it, homemade is delicious). If I didn't have small children, other family recipes include date bars, carmelitas, apricot fold ups.
