made vanilla extract, now what?

I just bottled my vanilla extract today. What can I do with my used beans? I would hate to trash them.

Grind them up with coffee beans for extra flavor? Just a guess, I'm not familiar with vanilla beans but I do so love vanilla coffee.

Chopped fine and added to a DIY body scrub would impart a lovely scent and be added exfoliant.

Could they be kept as an aromatic?

Did you make a big batch? I was thinking of doing a big batch and gifting some for next Christmas.

Maybe, but they are a little boozy . I made about 2 liters. This was my first time.

I left my beans in the rum until I used the entire bottle! (I put it right in the rum bottles) took a year to use the entire thing

Planning on making two bottles this time! I love it!!

I would leave them in. I make vanilla sugar-after I slice/scrape the beans and let it sit 4-6 weeks, I toss the whole thing in the food processor.

My Mom makes vanilla and she just leaves the beans in the bottle and even reuses them to make more at times or will blend them in a fruit smoothie

Leave them in and just keep adding more alcohol. Everlasting.

Re: made vanilla extract, now what?

I like to add them to iced, blended herbal coffee or tea drinks. If you have a decent blender, (I have a vita mix) you can put some sugar and the beans into it and grind it all up together for vanilla sugar which is really yummy. I grind about two cups of sugar with the beans and then mix it into a larger amount of sugar after it's ground up. Doing this amount seems to give me the best, finest grind. Yummy blended with eggs and milk to make homemade ice cream or custard.
