Re: Packed Lunches
Target hs some new heated/coled lunch containers. a little pricy but would be worth it for some.
For DH's lunch his favorite is taco salad. I just make up a big green salad with chopped tomatos, thin sliced leftover chicken or steak, shredded cheese, tortilla chips(use the bottom of the bag ones or bake a corn tortilla and crumble it up), dressing mix salsa and sour cream(taco bell sauce works good too) bag everything separately so it goesnt get soggy terriyaki bowls can be made ahead and frozen(freeze the rice separate) nachos layer dip. when theres leftover burrito stuff i layer it in a container. usually refried beans, rice, meat, cheese, sour cream, salsa, chopped tomatos, sauted onion, serve with tortillas or chips to scoop cobb salad feta burgers reheat well (mix in feta cheese chopped fine i like the tomato basil flavored and an onion soup mix) serve with chips or macn cheese and vegie sticks chicken chunks with hot wing sauce, vegie sticks, garlic bread, ranch to dip thats all i can think of for now |

Re: Packed Lunches
Thermos Lunchbox Ideas:
o Fill thermos with hot water and place a hot dog in the water. By lunch time the hot dog will be just the right temperature. Pack with a bun and some fast food mustard/ketchup. o Make a can of Campbell’s soup (any regular kind) and put it into the thermos hot, will still be warm by lunch. My mom used to use the bean with bacon soup and cut up hot dogs into it. o On a cold day put hot chocolate into the thermos as lunch treat. If made with skim milk and a low sugar chocolate mix it will have less sugar then the cafeteria chocolate milk. You could also do warm apple cider, or a warm herbal tea. o Make extra smoothy at breakfast and pour the leftovers into the thermos to enjoy with lunch. o Put warm taco meat or beans into the thermos and serve with chips for nachos. o Warm Spagettios, ravioli, spaghetti, or mac & cheese and place in the thermos. Serve with chunks of bread. o Warm mashed potatoes to serve with a meatloaf or pot roast sandwich made from leftovers. o On one website I saw that someone froze ice cream and then put it in a lunch box, I’m not so sure about that, but try it! |

Re: Packed Lunches
DH takes his lunch everyday- saves us a ton. He will take leftovers( i always try to make extra at dinner) or deli meat sandwiches when we eat out/ dont have enough leftover. I started making all his snacks- cookies, rice krispies treats, etc. and buying 12packs of the cheapo pop- he would buy 2-3 a day of the bottles at work, and the 12packs only cost about $2.50 or so.

Re: Packed Lunches
for trail mix, I just get some bulk items and throw them together: almonds, peanuts, cashews, dried cranberries, chocolate covered something (raisins or pretzals), some of those sesame stix, and dried bananas. I love coconut, but last time i did that crunchy stuff got stale. I guess because of their moisture?

Re: Packed Lunches
Bento-style here too! The kids love, and my husband eats much healthier that way. I use a lot of leftovers.

Re: Packed Lunches
Just found this! Whoooo HOOOO! Where can I get the "stuff" to make Bento Luches. I don't know where to buy all the cute little containers! DD is SOOOO picky. She pretty much eats PB & J every day! I would love to switch it up for her. I am also trying to make DH lunch so I can get him to stop eating out!
Thanks in advance!
