Did you do the triple/quad screen?
![]() Did you get a false positive? Were you satisfied with the results? Would you do it again?

Re: Did you do the triple/quad screen?
I always have, not that it would change anything.

Re: Did you do the triple/quad screen?
I've chosen not to with both pregnancies. While I like to be informed, I look at these things as "what would I do with the information?" And the answer would be "nothing" because the results wouldn't change the outcome at all for us. Besides, I've heard too many horror stories about false positives. I wouldn't want to wait out the rest of my pregnancy in uncertainty and full of anxiety.

If I have a 6th baby (fifth pregnancy) I may pass, I may not, as I really don't know how old I'll be. The anxiety I had w/ my 3rd baby was horrible at the end. I really stressed over what the test may have shown and all the "what ifs" but now I know that the test isn't really anything definitive and know people who've had false positives and went for the amnio to have it come back perfectly fine and have a healthy baby after months of stress over the possibility. ETA: I should also add that the anxiety at the end of my 2nd pregnancy could have also been from the medical problems I had post-partum. I almost died actually.

Re: Did you do the triple/quad screen?
I did for my first (and only) pregnancy. I did get a false positive for Downs Syndrome. Though I knew in advance that there are a lot of false positives for Downs using this test, it was unnerving when I got the results. I'm not sure if I will do the screen again in future pregnancies or not.

Re: Did you do the triple/quad screen?
I did for my second (can't remember about my first
) and I also got a false positive for Down's. When the results came back I then did a lot of research on the tests and about the results that come back (false positives and even false negatives). It just made me worry about the health of my baby until I just "let it go". Decided NOT to do an amnio. Didn't see the need to put my baby at risk to find out about something that I wouldn't be able to change anyway...DNA is DNA...can't change it. And it's not as if the outcome for us would have changed. He's our baby and we would love him not matter what. I can say that should I have any further pregnancies I won't have those tests.
