Episiotomy question
I tore a little in the front while birthing Jonah and they had to stitch me up a little bit. It's been 10 days since I had him and it's starting to itch a little bit down there.
Is that normal? Is it part of the healing process? or should I get it looked at?

Stitches itch a bit when they heal. Are you still using the squirt bottle to rinse off after you go to the bathroom?

Re: Episiotomy question
no...I wasn't told to use one. They just said to pat dry inside of wiping...

Re: Episiotomy question
I've itched with both of mine. It just means that it's healing. Keep it clean, and you should be fine.

Oh, ok. I was sent home with a little squirt bottle and told to rinse first, then pat dry. If they used the stitches that your body absorbs I think that takes about 2 weeks so you are getting close. Is it just a little itch? Have you had a UTI or yeast infection before?

Re: Episiotomy question
I LOVED the squirt bottle they give you! I have had 2c/s and one vaginal(natural)-for my recent loss of our angel at 18weeks3days.I needed the warm water-it felt so much cleaner-then i patted dry.Sounds like your healing though.
After this pp time you can use these peri bottles for your diaper bag or on changing table for the baby(to use on the cloth wipes) Sorry TMI-but when I have af-i will still cleanse area with warm peri bottle!Especially if flow is heavy that month. Happy babymoon-congrats on your lo's arrival.

Re: Episiotomy question
I tore with both of mine and they gave me tucks pads in the hospital and also dibucane cream that you can get from pharmiscist w/o script....Also gave me some spray stuff...told me to use tucks pads every time, and rotate dibucane cream and spray stuff....
with DD i was literally swollen to the size of baseball (or so my DH said and it felt more like softball..lol) b/c of swelling with pregnancy so at my 6wks check up i still had stiches b/c it hadn't healed yet...ohhh that was a long recovery...couldn't sit in a chair for a week... DS no swelling and they still gave me all that stuff for tear. Itching sounds normal...i had it too...i was always told that itching meant it was healing (when cuts i had as a child would itch).
