Preschool Homeschooling

Ack, I feel like I should just do the research myself because there are soooooooooooo many sites out there...

But, I am looking for websites that have a lot of 'do it yourself' homeschooling stuff I can modify/print and use. I have a 2.5 year old, so am not really doing anything big with schooling of any sort, but do really want to start planning, get a list of websites to visit.

And - what educational-type sites do you recommend for 2-3 year olds that have some fun ideas, projects, learning activities, that sort of thing? I'd love to find some fun activities for my dd that promote more learning through play.

And - (this is it, promise) what educational sites do you recommend for youngsters? We are a Christian family and try to incorperate our Lord into everything, and really want to help build a strong foundation and love for the Lord at a young age.

I read your post and felt like I could have written it. Definitely in the exact same boat. I look forward to seeing the answers.

I LOVE Mother Goose Time. www.mothergoosetime.com
It is for ages 2-6 and has everything you want. Plus sign language and 2 spanish words of the month. The activites are so cute. There are 2 themes each month. Even my 8-12 year olds complain if they get left out of the activities!

I also add in scriptures each month to go with each theme and the activities.

Take a look. Click on themes and it will tell you everything for each month for this coming school year. I subscribe for 10 months and it autoships every month in cute bus boxes! lol

I like http://www.abchomepreschool.com/ myself. I especially like that you can buy the books that dry-erase so that you can reuse the curriculum with many children.

My 2 1/2 year old twins LOVE doing "Before Five In A Row" - it is pretty casual, but has lots of different activities, all centered on 1 book each week that is read Five (times) In A Row. All the books are classics, and I have been really surprised at how well my kids listen and connect the ideas with the activities. And nothing is really hard, either - I bought the curriculum and then borrow the books from our library (or pick them up at yard sales, as I see them).

WARNING: BLATANT CHRISTIAN IDEAS HERE

Oh, yeah, and something else we do . . . we pick some Bible verses each month and have our friends and family members read them onto our computer; then we make CD's that have songs, stories, and those particular Bible verses repeated several times throughout. The girls LOVE going to sleep hearing their "Grampy's" voice reading to them . . . and the repetition just anchors those Bible verses into their minds! (Plus, they LOVE hearing their own voices and their baby brother, too!)

Of course, we end up with "God created the SEVEN and the earth" (London thinks 7 looks like L, which is "her" letter!)

and

"Be ye kind, come to the dumpster (one to another!)"

and

"God so loved the world, that He gave His only FORGOTTEN Son" . . .

ah, the list goes on! But I figure - hey - I'll probably punish them when they need to be hugged sometimes and hug them when they need to be punished sometimes, but I can NEVER go wrong teaching them God's Word, right?

Re: Preschool Homeschooling

Awesome thread! I am going to homeschool my preschooler this year. After that she will be going to PS but I decided I could teach her more here at home than she will learn in a daycare/preschool environment. All these links are AWESOME!
