Re: What does/did your 1 year old say?
Lochlan is over 15 months old. He says "vrrrr" when he pushes a car.
Thats it. He will make some throaty-vowely sounds with a toy phone. He says "uh" but its just his "most common sound". No mama, dada, baba, numnum, upee, or whatever. He just says "vrrr" but man oh man is he cute, and he smirks while making mischief.

Re: What does/did your 1 year old say?
Wow Tangy, that's a lot of words at his age!
Around 1 year, Benjamin could say Mama Dada Ba (bottle) bye Vrrmm (when pushing a car or truck) Roar (imitating his older brother making dinosaur sounds!) Uh, MMM and similar sounds - I want that! He can sign More Eat Please He waves hi and bye, and says "bye" when he wants to go somewhere. He understands virtually everything we say! He answers questions with his body language - whether nodding in agreement, shaking his head no, or moving towards something, etc. (And he runs away when we tell him we need to change his diaper! LOL) He is just starting to babble like crazy (will be 15 months in a couple days) My older DS was about the same at age 1. |

Re: What does/did your 1 year old say?
Dh and I were just talking about this particular thing this morning. Nathan doesn't say NEARLY as much as Evan did, but more than Brandon at 1yo. I told dh that I can distinctly remember when we moved to Ontario, Evan was totally talking @ 15mos. Brandon didn't talk much until around 2.5yo, but he had hearing problems so once he got his tubes put in, the words starting spilling out! lol
Nathan says Hi-ya ta-ta mama - actually mum-mum-mum-mum-mum ![]() dada nah-nah (nurse) yes while nodding (it sounds like yush) He babbles a ton, and will talk to his toys and his little friends like they're having a mensa conversation! He has a great repetative vocabulary and will copy lots of what you say - If I say "No Nathan, that's dirty", he'll say dirty; I said "No-no, that's yucky" this morning, and he said yucky over and over for about 10 minutes! ![]() He signs for milk, thank you, eat and Daddy

Re: What does/did your 1 year old say?
At one Kye could say Kitty, Puppy and Light, Mama and Dada. Then all of a sudden he quite completely. He didn't talk again until he waas over 18 months old (20 I think). Now he is three is tells the longest little stories. He never quits..lol

Re: What does/did your 1 year old say?
Ellie squaks....it's not a cry, or yell, or word...just a squak. Pretty cute actually.
DS was a really late talker, and I think DD may follow suit. I was worried the first time around...this time I'm not going to fret too much. I am a *little* worried about DS (3.5 yrs) beginning to studder though. I know it's common at that age...they think faster than the words can come out...but I just don't want to see it get any worse. It's always harder with the first child, isn't it?

Re: What does/did your 1 year old say?
Interesting thread...my DD just turned one and she says:
Mama Dada Do (dog) tacto (tractor) We live at the bottom of a landslide so we see tractors working all day!! Uh oh! mo (more) not nearly the vocab that DD#1 had...but DD#2 is much more easy going and mellow! I've been signing with her since she was about seven months, but she doesn't want to participate except for signing dog! My best friend was here today with her DS who is about 11 months and man does he have a vocabulary! Let's see today he said: fish mama boat ball more oon (balloon) cat dog tweet tweet (bird) quack quack (duck) hmmm...I'm sure I forgot a few!

Re: What does/did your 1 year old say?
I think we counted over 150 words by one for dd & just stopped there, she is a total mimic. That's her "thing" though, she's 19 months now & speaking in sentences since 14/15 months. She just lights up if she hears a new word that catches her ear & will repeat it & smile & laugh all excited about it.
