Re: Defining EC for people who haven't heard of it.
Today was the first time I had heard about infant potty training. I am SO excited to try it with my daughter. I am going to start tomorrow. She is 2 weeks away from 5 months. Is that too late to start? Please give me any tips or advice. I can never find threads after I post in them so please PM your advice and tips. THANKS!

Re: Defining EC for people who haven't heard of it.
I just tell people that he gets mad when he is in dirty diaper which is true, just not the full explanation. I started to notice this about 3-4 months ago that he did not like beginning in the van anymore and I think it is because he did not like being dirty or he had a full bladder/bowels and did not want to go.

Re: Defining EC for people who haven't heard of it.
I can't wait to try EC. it makes so much sense. I've been reading and talking to friends about it- some think that it makes perfect sense, and then others are quite vehemently incredulous...but I'll show them. haha. I've got a whole 4 more months to go, though! I'm taking 6 weeks off after she's born, and I hope to have made a lot of progress by then. Hopefully I'll have something more productive to post after Jan

Re: Defining EC for people who haven't heard of it.
Very interesting...
I guess I am kind of half way there. We have always had DS hang out on occasion without a diaper just to air out or if we noticed him getting red. We'd just lay him on a prefold and lay another PF on top of him (of course he'd kick it off ). So we have sat there and watched him and we pretty much know when he is about to do anything because we generally know his cues.We have also found him very fussy about being in any kind of soiled diaper immediately. We are used to changing him within 5 minutes of a cue (especially now that he is teething). People are always telling us he will good for PT because he is so picky about soiled dipes. I like the comments about teaching kids to sit in soiled diapers only to turn around and tell them to not do so. Just something about that strikes me as oddly contrary (go figure). No wonder babies have an issue with PT. Everything else about parenting is about consistency and we then do an about-face on this issue. So I guess I'd be interested in doing EC. I was just concerned about the fact that he spends 8hrs M-F in daycare. I didn't think we could maintain consistency. Our DCP is a friend though and she might be willing to try to do some EC a couple times during the day. If it will still work out in some fashion then it is worth the try. Thanks for the info!

Helpful! Just doesn't seem like it's for me, though.

Re: Defining EC for people who haven't heard of it.
I'm very interested in EC, but have noticed DD poops mostly when she's nursing. I assume this might change on it's own, but have been wondering how you can do EC when this is the case? I've tried to notice when she's going, if she has any cues, but other than hearing it I don't notice any (especially since her face is usually on my breast - I don't notice expressions there!). Any suggestions for getting better at this?
