Re: Here is yet another vax question
Just my two cents...
We don't auto-vax (when told to by peds) anymore after watching my lovely 12mob lose lots of skills after his 1yr MMR, now we know he is autistic... ...however, we do flu shots every year, very glad to have the thimerosal info! Last year, only DH got the flu shot, and the other 5 of us all got it. It was extremely miserable, and 14mo ds has still not gone back to sleeping thru the night! I'm not about to go through that again, and my OB is very pro-flu shot, but her office doesn't do that directly, you have to find a primary care person that does it. I'm due in November. County health offices are usually very good at at least referring you to flu shot sources, if they don't do it themselves. I've also had good results with doctors who cater to elderly populations, they tend to order more than enough to administer some to our family. HTH, Amy A. in TX |

And again my apologies to Julesmom23girls for the hijack, but I really do appreciate the help!! I hope everything works out for your new little one as well. I can't imagine having to deal with the flu in a newborn...way too scary for me.

Re: Here is yet another vax question
To me you q was related and if my q helps you get your q answered then that is all that matters to me. So Teachermama don't worry about hijacking. I hope you can find a place that will vax, maybe you can have your OB contact your primary DR so they know that you should get the vax and which one would be best, or maybe the OB can write you a script that says which flu vax you need so you can take it where ever the vax is being given. That way w/ you OB permission they will be more inclined to give it to you. I don't know if it would work or not, but worth a shot. No pun intended, LOL

Re: Here is yet another vax question
You will not pass immunity on to your chid with the vaccination. You will pass on mercury.
i would not geta flu shot ever but especially not while pregnant or nursing. |

It's in liquid form and you CANNOT get it on your skin or take it undiluted unless you put the drops into empty gel capsules! It is so concentrated it will burn and it tastes nasty btw GSE and the gel capsules can be found at your health food store. For adults: 10-15 drops into the gel capsules for children (older I'd say) 5 in capsules and for children unable to swallow capsules- 1-3 drops into OJ to mask the flavor Works like a charm for mine ![]() My kids are now taking them as daily maintainance for the cold, flu and nasty virus's they can bring home from school

Re: Here is yet another vax question
Can babies under 6mo even get a flu shot? From the recommendations it's - elderly, people with chronic respiratory problems, pregnant women in their last tri, and children or infants age 6-24mo. I know in certain situations (like babies with asthma) it's recommended earlier, but from what I recall the "average" baby should get it if they are between 6 to 24mo... Don't know if I'm remembering correctly though - we don't get them anyway.

Re: Here is yet another vax question
Just want to reitterate, if you decide to get one, make sure you get the one with NO thimerosal in it.
