Diaper Swappers

diarrhea? I know DS is teething b/c I can see the red bump on his gum. This a.m he's had 5 watery bm's - 2 really big ones, 3 not so big. Symptom, or coincidence? What's your experience?

DD got diaper rashes and diarrhea when she was teething.

Yep, diarrhea here. Especially with lower teeth. Bleck.

I've been told it's not related... but so many people say it is. DS is teething but only has a faucet of drool & is fussy so I dunno about the BM thing. He had a bad, soft one yesterday but I can't say it's teething since it could be what he ate too (prunes & apples) LOL

I've always heard (from Dr's, etc.) that the two aren't related.

But, in my experience (especially with Camden), they TOTALLY are. Every single time, without fail, that he is teething, we start to get the watery, runny poops. It's miserable!!

I don't know what it is, but it's always been true for us. I wish it wasn't, but it totally is!

ds has gone from a 2-4x a week pooper to an almost every diaper. I feel so bad and I've tried to let his lil red bum air out but he's pooped w/in 5 min. on my floor the 2x's we tried it.

Gotta check his mouth when he gets up. poor baby

With DS the two always went hand in hand. However, DD has been teething for WEEKS and hasn't had any change in her poopies. Actually, that's not true. She's actually been pooping much, much less. It's kind of got me worried, but she's still soaking her dipes so I'm assuming everything is ok.

I've heard they're related but we've not experienced it. The boys have gotten diaper rash though when teething.

Yep, all 3 of mine get the "poison poop" - runny, diarhea-like, and it somehow gives them a rash IMMEDIATELY. So I am super-vigilant when I know they're teething, to get those diapers changed RIGHT AWAY.

My brother-in-law is a doctor, and he insists that there is no medical correlation . . . but they don't have kids yet!

(He also tells me that breathing cold air will not give children colds, they have to get them from bacteria . . . but again, he doesn't have children yet!)

It's never happened to US, but it totally makes sense that it COULD be related.

Teething -> swolen gums -> drooling = more mucus -> swallowing more mucus -> runny poop
