My Mood:
chamomile tea for upset stomach?

Poor Amira is feeling a bit under the weather. She barfed on me this morning after breakfast

I called the peds office and they suggested no food and watered down chamomile tea or watered down 7up until I can go get her pedialite.

Anyone ever heard of this? I know my gma used to give me 7up for upset stomach but not chamomile.

Actually, I use ginger for myself & DS. Also you can use fennel.

Traditional Medicinals makes some great teas for kids & have one for upset belly - saw it today at the store when I was waiting for DS's prescription. I use their Nighty Night tea for him that they make.

I remember the infant teacher at DD's daycare saying chammomile tea is good for babies with gas. That's what they use in her home country (she's from Eastern Europe). So maybe it would help with an upset tummy. But usually you hear of ginger as being recommended for tummy upset.

yep chammomile tea is good for gassy and spitty and barfy kids, also nice for cranky or clingy kids. You can mix w/ ginger but I never have any on hand (doh!)

How do much water do you add to the tea to water it down? I would love to try it on Taci

I steep it like I would for anyone, then I fill the sippy (or bottle, my kids took a sippy at 4 mos and hated bottles- use what works obviously) 2/3 full and add water until it feels "pleasantly warm" instead of too hot. My kids sip an ounce or 2, 3 if they are older and stop, But if your kid starts chugging it I would slow them down, a rush of any fluid is hard on an upset tummy. Younger or sicker babies I have given tea by the dropper. A teaspoon can work wonders on a tiny fussbudget.

We used that with DD as soon as I discovered it (I think she was 4 months old then). Unfortunately, can't find it around here anymore.
