Do you give tylenol for fevers?
Poor Amira
She is 9 months old, and running a temp since last night. I gave her tylenol before she went to bed, then again this am, and now her fever is back up to 102. She is a bit irritable, no grabbing at ears or anything like that, and a bit more sleepy than usual. She just doesnt seem happy. I am uncomfortable giving her tylenol around the clock since she is so little, but I also dont want her to be miserable and running a temp. Just wondering what other mamas do?

Depending on your doctor's recommendations, ibuprofen (Advil) lowers fever faster. Typically if DD is running a fever, I alternate ibuprofen and Tylenol.

For us it depends on the situation.
If they are running a fever and seem uncomfortable we alternate between tylenol and motrin. If they are running a fever and seem not bothered by the fever we don't. Our thinking is the fever is there for a reason and let it go |

Re: Do you give tylenol for fevers?
I give Motrin depending on how hot they feel. I can usually feel if its Motrin worthy or not but if its questionable (or they're still pretty young) I'll actually take their temp. My son got a low-grade fever and site reaction on his arm from a vax on Monday and today is the first day we didn't do Motrin but he still has a little temp. As long as he's not complaining about it and okay then I don't give it.

Alternating Tylenol and Ibuprofen works best for us.

Re: Do you give tylenol for fevers?
Thank you guys. I just gave some tylenol but will run out for ibuprofen when dh gets home.
I feel so bad for my little girl, she is just whiney all day saying 'mama mama' if I put her down she looks so sad and looks up at me and says mama? Of course I melt

Re: Do you give tylenol for fevers?
we had a terrible time with dd and infant tylenol - she just would not take it (i've tasted it - it is pretty nasty). we've had overall better success with the infant motrin. i'd check with your ped on dosage for her - a lot of the commercial boxes don't really tell you a dosage for under 2. our ped gave us a chart to use to figure out the dosage for tylenol and motrin.

Nope! A fever is your body's defense mechanism. It can't do it's job if it's not present, IMO.
