Well you read the title, so why'd you click on it then? What's the point of breastfeeding if you're not interested in getting the awesome benefits for your child ?

Is it after 12 months or after 2 yrs?

I am still nursing my 14 month old, who shows absolutely no signs of stopping, either. We only nurse three "scheduled" times a day (in the morning when he wakes up, before his afternoon nap, and then again before he turns in for the night. As the article mentioned, though, bfing is also the all time healer of booboos and ends temper tantrums in a hurry, too!
Eli signs "milk" to me when he desires to nurse and says "boob-shies". Too cute! He has been having little melt downs if I tell him that he can't nurse at that particular time, which is no mas! But all in all, I have had an awesome experience with nursing past one year of age! And have really had very few negative feedback from family and friends - which helps a lot.

I'm so thankful for this sticky. My MIL has been giving me such a hard time about BF'ing my DD past 6 months (She's only 3 months now.) However, I intend to do it as long as she desires to and then weans on her own, which I'm hoping is no earlier than 2 years of age. My MIL has made comments about it being disgusting and unnecessary after 1 year of age, stating that there are plenty good formulas out there good enough to give instead (YEAH RIGHT!). She said she feels that when a child is talking about it, asking for it, and trying to get it or help get the boobie out - that it is just awful.... She really offends me a bit - but her comments almost are a bit of encouragement for me to stick it out as long as possible!!!! lol. THANKS!

GREAT info! Thanks. My DD is almost 15 mos and we are still nursing...only at night, but I have no intentions of forcing her to give that one up..it is our special time. Just a few weeks ago she was still nursing 3 -4 tims a day (+ nights). For my sanity, I did push the issue on the 2am feeding, thanks for all the info on the benefits.

Very nice article. I still nurse my 4-1/2 year old and my two year old and I'm expecting again. My older knows he will be last in line once the new baby comes but I think he'll be okay with that.
