Re: DD fell, does this look bad?!!!

What makes it worse is that my bf, her father, is constantly blaming me for it and telling me that I'm a horrible mother, it just really hurts me because I do everything for her, I was right there beside her and couldn't catch her in time to stop her from falling...

Um, excuse me?? What an ***!

You could bubble wrap your child with only breathing holes and they would still get hurt sometimes.

Sorry, but that really pisses me off.

I don't know if it's because his 20 year old son died in a car accident in 2005 but he's incredibly overprotective, he says things that cut to the bone

Oh, don't feel bad mama! You BF would think I am horrible. My kids are one big giant bruise. My son is such a daredevil and he always has a bruise of some sort. Kids will be kids and if that is the worst booboo she ever has consider yourself lucky!!

I think that's really rude too.

Having never lost a child, I cannot imagine his pain and I can totally understand being overly protective.

However, no tragedy allows for a complete disregard of common sense, especially when it involves hurting the mother (or father) of your child.

(((hugs)))

Re: DD fell, does this look bad?!!!

My dh gets really upset when ds gets hurt too - he's said things like that to me. I've learned that it's just the way he reacts to seeing his son in pain. Just like some people who faint at the sight of blood, he gets really angry (at everyone and no one and himself but mostly ends up taking it out on me) when his baby is hurt. We've had several discussions and we've agreed that if he can't control himself then he will have to leave the room, and if he doesn't do it himself, then I will tell him to, because I need to take care of ds, not argue with dh about whose fault it was and how I should have been watching him better! He realizes after the fact that he was out of line...but when his baby is screaming, it's like it's the only thing he can think of to do.

Kids get bumps and bruises - it just happens. They are pretty tough, though, and most of them are more traumatic for the parents than the kids. My nephew fell out of a shopping cart head first onto a linoleum floor with no ill effects - you should have seen the bump from that one! It was the size of a softball, and he was only 2! (That fall, of course, was an ER visit, but still, he was fine).

My ds had one day where he fell off our bed and got a bruise by his eye (same spot as your dd's), bonked his head on the wooden couch leg later and had a knot on his forehead, and then was fussing and put his teeth through his lip banging his face against my knee. We were so paranoid for the rest of the day that I don't think he touched the floor again, the poor little guy!

Re: DD fell, does this look bad?!!!

My son didn't get any bruises until he was 11 months LOL and now they happen all the time. You can't watch them all the time they need to know that you will be there if they need you also. KWIM? Don't feel bad. My MIL says the same thing, but then again, I don't talk to her anymore. (long story)
