Re: Why does my son pinch my nipples?
My 9 month old daughter does it as well... except I don't trim her nails every night and am left with little tiny baby sized scratches. With the pinching and twisting of the neglected nipple, always assumed she was prepping the other nipple for an attack. She doesn't nurse anymore, she dive bombs them.

Re: Why does my son pinch my nipples?
Ok, so I must ask
how do people know this? It's not like a baby pops off and says "yep, that makes it come out faster" ... and I'm HOPING a grown adult hasn't tried it - but I can't think of any other way that we'd know this? Or that we'd know that what we eat flavors our milk? LOL - seriously this makes me giggle when I think about how on earth anyone would know such things!!

Re: Why does my son pinch my nipples?
Well he doesn't pinch in the beginning, he does when I know he's not getting much out any more, and he sits and plays and pinchs and kneads and then boom, I let down again, so I just kind of assume. that happens every time he does.

Re: Why does my son pinch my nipples?
Interesting. And your avatar cracks me up - I always stare at it when I see your posts
My ds scratches the daylights out of my arm and it feels bruised! Lately I've started keeping his bottom arm tucked under mine and playing with his hand just to save my arm. I definitely couldn't handle the nipple twirling - that would drive me batty!

Re: Why does my son pinch my nipples?
my son does this all the time and always on the breast he is munching on......I do end up with scratches and it hurts after awhile (I now put on a sock on his hand and that has worked for us) I always assumed he did it to get the milk flowing as well......actually when I pump I massage my breasts and it works, so it makes sense.
He always reminds me of a kitten!

Re: Why does my son pinch my nipples?
My lo loves to pinch or hold something while nursing . . .I usually have to have him wrap both his hands around my fingers, bra strap or shirt. His hands go crazy until he finds something to hold on to! My other side is never exposed at the same time, we don't switch sides until the next feeding.

Re: Why does my son pinch my nipples?
My almost 2 year old does this too. It drives me crazy and I try my best to get him not to. I will cover the other breast, remove his hand, or hold my arm over it. Sometimes it works but usually he just gets mad! He will fight to shove his little hand underneath so he can hold onto it!

Re: Why does my son pinch my nipples?
YES! My dd 17 months does this too! But only during the day, not really at night. I assumed that it was from boredom. So has anyone had experience in getting their child to stop? Would a nursing necklace help? She used to bite once in awhile and I reprimanded that firmly but the pinching/playing not as much. It doesn't hurt quite as much as the biting but it isn't pleasant....
