How have you successfully stripped your dipes?

I have seen so many posts about stripping but can't seem to find them now that I need them! I haven't figured out how to search the forum with this new set-up!

My dipes stink and I want to strip them. What stripping routine have you used successfully? I would like to do it right the first time. I know nothing about whether my water is hard or soft.

I have successfully stripped my diapers by running them through hot washes till bubbles no longer form. HTH!

I didn't have stink issues, I had repelling fleece issues and I tried rinsing and rinsing and rinsing until there were no bubbles two or three times in a row, I tried adding boiling water to the wash, I tried Sensi-clean and I tried scrubbing with Dawn. The only thing that worked (AT LAST ) was adding RLR to my wash. It's a laundry additive that you can either find balls of in the laundry aisle of some supermarkets or buy online from Zannadu diapers. I bought it online and of course stumbled across it locally a couple of days later at a store I don't usually go to. I've heard boiling is great for stinky hemp - I don't know if it works for plain cotton.

If nothing that needs boiling has snaps, I'll boil it. I'll put it in water that has been brought to a rolling boil and plop it in there, let the boiling begin again and let it boil for about three minutes... pop that into a bowl or something for safe keeping (it's piping hot now) and I'll add the next one in. I have to add water once in awhile as the liners and dipes will absorb the water... I will then toss everything into the wash and spin it out, then run a hot wash with nothing. I have super hard water so I can't use too much vinegar.

Other than that... I'll let it soak in oxyclean overnight. (these are my liners I'm talking about). The dipes normally come clean after boiling them or even just running a few hot cycles.

A couple squirts of Dawn dishsoap in a hot wash. And enough rinses after that to not see any bubbles.

I bet using some Basic-L (from Shaklee) will help. The great thing about Basic-L is that it will not build up in your washer, or your clothes AND it removes build up from prior detergents and from your clothing. In fact, for people using it the first time it's recommended that you wash a grungy load first - like old towels and stuff if you have been using other detegergents for a long time, as Basic-L will clean your washer. Just incase something in there will ruin good clothes (or fabric softner build up that can coat cloth diapers if there's enough of it), use grungy towels or something.
